RSC - Royal Shakespeare Company (client testimonial)

I would like to express my gratitude for all your assistance during our shooting of the RSC's King Lear at Pinewood Studios.
You have been most helpful in providing us with a first-rate radio system - both at a good price, and very swiftly. We have also been impressed with the time you have taken to follow up on deliveries and ensure that we are happy with our equipment. I will not hesitate to recommend you to other productions, and I hope we will be able to work with Ears plc again soon.

We rely on EARS plc to programme the radios we need for our OBs at short notice on frequencies licensed to us by JFMG.
The channels allocated can be different for each job, depending on location and specific requirements, and some of these projects come in at short notice so it is very important to us that EARS plc can accommodate the need quickly each time.

Wedding Belles is a darkly comic film following a group of four-life long friends as they prepare for what should be the dream wedding of the year.
EARS plc were called upon to supply all of their audio broadcast support equipment over the duration of the filming. Fifty walkie talkies in fully fitted flight cases and an assortment of up to fifty audio accessories were provided as part of a short term hire.
Taking advantage of EARS' 24 hour backup and support service, Stephen Smith, project manager at EARS plc, oversaw the smooth running and completion of the hire.
When a rogue radio frequency interfered with their frequency range, our engineers were onsite within two hours of the fault being reported. Interference is unavoidable, but we rectified the issue in a swift and efficient manner.
Sammy Davies from Junction Films commented,
EARS has proved to be a great 'find' and their service has been outstanding.

Casino Royale (released 2006)
talkingprops are pleased to announce our involvement in the new James Bond movie, Casino Royale.
The 21st Bond movie, "Casino Royale", currently being shot on location in the Bahamas, Prague, Italy and at Pinewood Studios in the UK stars Daniel Craig as the sixth James Bond.
The film's producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said,
It has been a long time ambition for us to film the first book in the series, Casino Royale, which defined the complex character of James Bond. We are thrilled Daniel Craig will play the character of 007. Daniel is a superb actor who has all the qualities needed to bring a contemporary edge to the role. Casino Royale will have all the action, suspense and espionage that our audiences have come to expect from us but nevertheless takes the franchise in a new and exciting direction.
talkingprops were approached to supply radio communication to the production company. Our relationship with the prop advisors stretches back to 2001. We've been providing props and other communication equipment to them since that time, and it is a always a pleasure to assist them, especially on high profile movies like the Bond series.

V for Vendetta (released 2005)

"V for Vendetta," the latest film by the Wachowski Brothers, the creators of the Matrix trilogy, is based on the 1980's British comic strip of the same name, setting Great Britain in an alternative-future, where nuclear weapons have been removed from the country and a masked vigilante only known as "V" is fighting the oppressive society that has consumed freedom.
talkingprops got involved when the prop master required communication on set. Operating as part of a team, the Prop Master controls all aspects of the prop department, working closely with Production Designers, Art Directors, Set Designers, Carpenters, Artists and even instructing the actors on handling props.
It's easy to forget how difficult it is to co-ordinate a large team of staff on a location or set, props have to be loaded, transported and stored from location to location. The use of audio communication equipment such as headsets, earpieces and speaker microphones enable the job to be carried out with speed and efficiency whilst keeping noise level to a minimum.

Around the World in Eighty Treasures (BBC production, 2005)

From the Taj Mahal to the Kremlin, through to the Parthenon and the Great Wall of China, historian, author and TV presenter Dan Cruickshank has been set a monumental challenge - to journey non-stop across the globe in search of the most significant man-made treasures on the planet.
In a new series for the BBC, Cruickshank charts the rise and fall of many of the world's greatest civilisations to create a unique picture of humankind through history. Travelling in an epic round-the-world trip to 44 countries in just five months, he risks life and limb to reach and reevaluate some of our most remote and revered treasures. Around The World In 80 Treasures celebrates the world as a diverse treasure house of art and ancient artefacts.
Behind the scenes, the small crew, including producer Tim Dunn, used walkie talkies from
talkingprops to maintain their tight schedule and co-ordinate scenes. The radio equipment was put to good use when a visit to the Debre Damo monastery in Ethiopia required a specialist rock climbing team to help scale the vertical cliffs which surround the religious site. To continue filming, all the equipment and crew had to be lifted up using ropes with the radios allowing smooth progress of the operation. The monks usually use a rope made from Oxen leather to pull colleagues up to the monastery situated on top of a flat-topped mountain.

"talkingprops in the papers"
The Sun (News Group Newspapers Limited)

In February 2002, prior to the re-opening of the Millennium Bridge, The Sun newspaper decided to conduct their own "wobble test" and contacted EARS, suppliers of specialist equipment, for help. In this case we supplied EARS' own invention, "The Wobbleometer".
The Wobblemeter tests for vibrations. Made by electronics experts at EARS plc, it picks up the smallest sensations. Mick Davies designed the equipment and stated that
It works by sending a series of electrical impulses which are picked up by high-tech sensors.
It is calibrated from one to ten - one being a gentle ripple and ten - full-scale earthquake. We are confident it could pick up the slightest of tremors.
The Millennium Bridge is a 340m long cable-suspended footbridge linking St. Paul's Cathedral with the Tate Modern Gallery at Bankside.
